Power over Ethernet (PoE) es un método para transmitir datos y energía a través de un solo cable de red. El requisito para esto es un conmutador o inyector compatible con PoE con el que se conecta el cable de red. Cuando luego conecta el otro extremo a un dispositivo compatible con PoE, en este caso la cámara INSTAR, la cámara se alimenta y transmite simultáneamente datos a través del cable de red.
