• ODI-SOL is a software product from INSTAR that allows the easy integration of WORM (Write Once Read Many), Erasable, and Multi-Function Optical Disk Drives with SUN Microsystems computers. ODI-SOL consists of an optical disk device driver, a high performance file system ODIS, a graphical user interface and an extensive set of utility programs. It is designed for any user requiring optical storage for SUN computers.
  
  
• Included with ODI-SOL is ODIS, a file system designed explicitly for WORM optical disks. ODIS supports a fast, transparent, hierarchical, random access file system that is similar to a UNIX file system. It is transparent to the user and allows the interchange of optical disks between different host platforms.
  
  
• Features of ODI-SOL include:
  • Transparent Access: For both WORM and Erasable media. No Modifications to existing applications necessary.
  • A Very Fast WORM File System: Advanced user configurable caching allows the ODIS file system to out-perform UFS by as much as 300%.

  • An Extensive Set of Utility Programs.
  • Supports Most Optical Disk Drives: WORM, Erasable, and Multi-Function. All sizes: 3.5", 5.25", and 12". All brands/manufacturers.

  • Supports non 512 byte sectored media.
  • Optional developer library available: A "C" Library interface gives application programs the ability to directly operate and monitor the operation of the optical disk drive.
