ODI-PC Optical Disk Interface for PC's

ODI-PC

  • ODI-PC interface package puts your PC in contact with hundreds of megabytes of on-line, random access storage on a single removable disk. This is a new generation storage subsystem providing dramatically increased information access capabilities for the IBM PC/XT/AT and most compatibles. The ODI-PC can be used with a write-once, read-many (WORM) optical disk drive to replace magnetic hard disks and tapes in data intensive applications.

Features

  • Stores and retrieves files randomly from a WORM optical disk device.
  • Accessible from DOS using the utility programs supplied.
  • Provides full data portability.
  • Offers transaction audit trail abilities.
  • Provides virtually unlimited data storage for PC's for less than $0.25 per MB.
  • No 32 megabyte DOS partitioning limitations.

Description

  • The ODI-PC kit is one of a family of optical disk based products from INSTAR. Using ODI-PC you can attach optical disk drives from a host of major drive manufacturers directly to your IBM compatible microcomputer, providing you with 100's of megabytes of inexpensive random access storage.

ODI-PC provides your organization with maximum data integrity and true portability of information that present day magnetic-based tape storage systems fall short of. Now, accessing data from your optical disk subsystem is a simple as viewing the up-to-date optical disk directory residing on your magnetic storage or by calling up the optical disk's index directly by a few easy to use commands. Using the ODI-PC interface, data can be written to or read from optical disk at speeds approximately 100 Kbytes/second. (Note: actual results may vary somewhat depending on system configuration and application). High capacity, maximum integrity, portability, random access and faster transfer rates all add up to the best optical disk integration package available on the market today. Whether you are a highly experienced systems integrator or merely beginning to explore how optical disk technology can address your needs, the ODI-PC kit makes optical disks accessible to you today.
