• MO-SOL is a software product from INSTAR that allows the easy integration of Magneto Optical (Erasable) Disk Drives with SUN Microsystems computers. With the availability of erasable optical comes the capacity to store hundreds of megabytes of erasable information on a single removable optical disk, thus giving SUN users easy and inexpensive random access to large amounts of information.

• MO-SOL consists of an erasable optical disk device driver complete with a graphical user interface, a set of utility programs for installing, media formatting, device testing and a comprehensive users manual.

• Features of MO-SOL include:
  • Transparent Access: No Modifications to existing applications necessary.
  • Protects Your Data: Proper media formatting and drive operation (i.e. locks the disk in the drive).
  • An Extensive Set of Utility Programs: including an animated GUI for easy use.
  • Supports Erasable Optical Drives and Multi-Function Drives Using Erasable Media: 3.5", 5.25", and 12" drives.
  • Simple Installation: Comes with a menu driven auto-installation program.
  • Supports Non 512 Byte Sectored Media.
  • User Configurable: Utility programs allow the user to configure write verifies, cached writes, SCSI disconnects/reconnects, SCSI async/sync protocol, etc.
  • Extensive Drive and Disk Diagnostics.
  • Supports ALL File System Calls, Block Device Calls and Procedures: Including: mount, fsck, newfs, dkinfo, and dump.
  • Optional Developer Library Available: A "C" Library interface gives application programs the ability to directly operate and monitor the operation of the optical disk drive.
