InStar Gets a Brewery Back in Action
One of the oldest breweries in the United States caught fire. The third floor blaze managed to destroy the company’s entire canning operation. This was a major blow to the company, as well as the city in which it was located, as the brewery happened to be the biggest employer in Utica, New York.
Facing a halt to operations as well as employee layoffs, the brewery contacted InStar, immediately. Recovery efforts began with evaluation and implementation of necessary safety precautions. After quickly mobilizing, equipment restoration and conveyer cleaning could begin.
Next, some out-of-the-box solutions were initiated. By using the brewery’s own staff to assist with the project, InStar kept their employees working and avoided layoffs. All bottling and shipping equipment located on the floor below where the fire occurred was cleaned in less than three weeks.
The InStar Technical Services Team comprised of Electronics and Machinery Technicians performed decontamination to the necessary equipment and electronics. As a result, the plant was back in operation exactly one month from the day of the fire − that made for some extremely happy brewers.
